comment What does the VIX formula measure and how does it work?
I guess I need to learn more about variance swap to understand this. I also just read the VIX's wikipedia page which has things broken down better than the white paper, but there is more understanding necessary. Where did you learn this, I feel that someone somewhere is explaining this better than these articles?

comment What is a medium to low frequency trading strategy and why is it less hyped?
High Frequency Trading get a lot of hype because they can do things to order books and markets that most human participants simply can't do. It gives a select few an advantage, and this is what gets into the spotlight, despite that fact that all successful trading requires discovering an advantage.

Thank you for the insight! Yes rolling out to a later month (at the same original strike price) seems to be a better idea

comment Why do some anomalies persist while others fade away?
I can elaborate..... lead-lag has to do with the optimism in an industry. This is not arbitraged away by share/options traders because the industry itself is growing. The industry itself is an efficient market but the participants will be the actual companies and regulators. The fact that the industry exists is because it is innovative and there simply hasnt been time for regulators and competitors to "arbitrage" it away.

comment Is there data on market participants at a particular moment?
You need to understand what drives every single oscillator and product that you watch. While I am familiar with the zero - just from passively reading that site - I have never used it. Level 2's are simply the order book from live orders in the market, a comprenhensive level 2 is not provided for free anywhere as the exchanges charge everyone for data feeds
